Welcome to the PCAWA Website

On behalf of the board of PCAWA, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all PCAWA and ACA members, affiliates and guests to our site.  Please take a moment to have a look around and become familiar with the site.  We are currently in the process of updating the site to reflect the new Board and the upcoming meetings for the 2014 year.  Please take a moment to become a member of the site so that you can stay as up to date as possible regarding what is going on this year.

What is PCAWA??

The association initially began as the WA Chapter of the Australian Counselling Association in 2002.  On the 15th of March 2003, the Chapter was Incorporated and became known as the Professional Counselllors Association of WA Inc. (PCAWA Inc.).  PCAWA in an independent individual membership body that provides services, benefits and registration standards for counsellors in Western Australia.  PCAWA is a full member association of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) incorporating the ACA's Code fo Conduct and disciplinary procedures. 

Why become a member?

Membership with PCAWA helps to ensure that practitioners are appropriately qualified and work to recognise standards of professional competence.  Membership also assures the client that the practitioner will work within an agreed ethical framework and code of practice.

What is ACA?

The Australian Counselling Association (ACA) is Australia's leading independent counsellor registration and industry representative body.  By joining PCAWA, you are enable the ACA to ensure that you will have representation for relevant state issues, and you will also help to improve security in the Counselling profession.  We are the Member Association (MA) of Western Australia for the ACA.  The ACA is primarily concerned with National registration industry standards, creating employment for counsellors, Medicate and health fund rebates and formal recognition of Counselling as an Allied Health Profession.  ACA is an independent association that offers members services and benefits second to none.  ACA is 'the voice of Counsellors'.  Further details pertaining to ACA can be found by clicking here
